The Ruins of Gorlan
John Flanagan
This is such a nostalgic series for me. I listened to these audiobooks all the time when I was a tween and honestly I'm suprised how well Eragon holds up as an adult. I'm trying to get back into fantasy after a long time away from it. I really struggle to find adult fantasy I enjoy as a lot of it is a bit to dark for me so I thought a book aimed at tweens would be a nice ease back into the genre and it certainly was. Although this book was clearly written by a teen in many ways I feel like it adds to it - in the sense that the way Eragon thinks and acts really feels his age. Similarly to how Olivia Rodrigo wrote Sour in a way that is so true to being a 17 year old girl because she was when she wrote it that kind of authenticity cannot be faked.
